The return of kindergarten to Southgate represents more than just the reinstatement of a grade level; it symbolizes the school’s renewed commitment to meeting our Strategic Priorities providing comprehensive education from the earliest stages of learning. By returning to the neighborhood elementary school we are excited that we will be able to give school staff have worked hard to ensure that the new kindergarten program will meet the highest standards.

The classrooms have been updated, along with the rest of our school, with a facilities update, modern learning tools, and curriculum that has been designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and social skills in young learners. This includes the continuation of the “play center” model. Experienced and passionate teachers who have kindergarten experience lead these classrooms, ensuring that each child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.

As kindergarten returns to Southgate Elementary, the school is set to welcome a new generation of students. By having students at our school for a five-year run, we believe we will be able to provide a safe and welcoming environment, instructional outcomes that will support the Packer Profile support for students that is appropriate specifically for them, and maximize our school resources. We are excited for the next chapter!
