An Austin teen was injured late Wednesday afternoon following a car-bike collision on Highway 56.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the unidentified 14-year-old male was traveling south on Highway 56 by bike when he and a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle, driven by 39-year-old Lina Dora Lopez of LeRoy, collided at Interstate 90. Lopez was also traveling southbound on Highway 56.

The crash took place at around 4:49 p.m.

The juvenile was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries. Lopez was uninjured. 

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Rose Creek Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance responded.
