OSAGE – The fourth annual Cedar Arts Fest, held each year at the Leeman Education Center in Osage, will feature 17 artists and authors on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Fine Arts Council of Mitchell County and is held to celebrate all artists – beginners to more advanced – who have ties to Mitchell County. The show features a mix of vendors and those whose work will be display only.
The works include a variety of media, from pottery, painting and fine drawing, to photography, gourds, railroad modeling and print-making.
A first for this show will be its two locations. The primary location will be at the Leeman Center; the second will be at the building on the corner of Main and Eighth streets (directly across Main Street from Kountry Kupboard). The second location, selected in order to display works too large for the Leeman, will host artwork by Joshua Walker and Loren Stene.
At the Leeman, featured works include those by Bruce Gordon (who recently unveiled his print of the largest tree in Iowa), Christine Leard, Lori Biwer Stewart, Mary Ann Marreel, Glenda Ross, Elijah Huebsch, Raven Cornwell, Cheryl Hoover, Avery Elliott, Pat Mackin, Dan Pennington, Nora Wall, the late Ed Souder and Deb Jensen. Also on hand will be the sale of books by the Alpha Writers.
Also, for the first time this year, there will be artists demonstrating their talents during the show at the Leeman.
There is no charge for the show and all are invited to attend.
The Fine Arts Council of Mitchell County is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and promoting a variety of fine art and cultural experiences for the residents of Mitchell County.
