Elaine “Lainey” E. Martell, 90

Elaine “Lainey” Elizabeth Martell, age 90, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Lyle, Minnesota, passed away on May 17, 2024. Elaine was born October 14, 1933, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Dietrich and Elizabeth (Krenz) Oldenburg. She graduated from Austin High School. On January 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Leroy Martell in Austin, Minnesota. From 1971 until 1993, Elaine was employed as a secretary to the superintendent at Lyle Public School. Over the years she also worked as a technician at Walmart and in retail sales at Sears and Roebuck. Elaine was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota. Her hobbies included traveling, camping, gambling, and dining out with a glass of Chardonnay.

Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia (Mark) Hanson of Rochester, Minnesota, Kim (Steve) McClain of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Dan (Kelly) Hanson of Madison Lake, Minnesota, Mike Hanson of Rochester, Minnesota, and Kirk Zaharris of Highland, California; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dietrich and Elizabeth Oldenburg; husband, Leroy Martell; sisters, Bernice Krokus and Florence Enderby; and niece, Pamela Hanson.
