The 2024 Austin Pickleball Experience was held Saturday at Packer Arena.
There were over 40 players participating in a recreational round robin event. Each player partnered with a different player for each game and every player was guaranteed, at least, three games. Players, male and female, of all ages joined in the fun of playing in a tournament atmosphere.
The goal of the event was to provide a chance for pickleball enthusiasts in the area to play with and meet other players while also fundraising to build an outdoor pickleball court complex at the Rotary Centennial Park in Austin. All the proceeds from the tournament went toward that fund.
The Pickleball Experience was organized by the Austin Park, Recreation and Forestry Department and the Austin Minnesota Area Pickleball Association (AMAPA). The plan is to hold a 2025 Austin Pickleball Experience event either at Packer Arena or the outdoor courts if they can be built in time by next year.
