The City of Austin and Mower County are asking residents to take part in a survey that will help guide the future of both entities and we encourage people to take this opportunity.

Both are working on comprehensive plans and have opted to work together through the process as they develop their plans.

The survey is available at www.compplan2045.com and we believe it’s well worth your time to take part in what is happening.

Keep in mind, that this is not one plan covering both the city and county, but rather it’s two governmental bodies that recognize that many of their goals overlap. There will still be two plans, but by working together, both the city and county will have an opportunity to craft comprehensive plans that lay out solid futures.

As was said in a story earlier this month, this gives you the opportunity to have a stake in that future as well as reflect on what a high quality of life will mean for those future generations.

There will also be future engagement opportunities which include more surveys, community workshops, stakeholder focus groups, social media, email updates and pop-up events.

While these plans will guide city and county decisions in the future, this process has a lot to do with the people as decisions will affect people.
