Shirley Magnuson, 90

Shirley Mae (Moe) Magnuson age 90 of Austin, Minnesota died peacefully in her sleep at her home on September 1st, 2024.
Shirley was born September 10th, 1933 in Garner Iowa to Harry and Desales Moe. She graduated from Austin schools and worked as a Lab technician at a small clinic in Austin, Minnesota. Shirley then married Sydney Magnuson at the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. They celebrated 50 years together and had four children and they lived on a dairy farm in rural Austin, which she worked hard as a farm wife in a successful dairy and crop operation. She was known as a prayer warrior and visited many people in need of companionship. She volunteered at St. Mark’s in Austin, Minnesota and received a recognition award for her services. She had a gift to visit many to talk about their relationship with the Lord. After the passing of Sydney she met Lloyd Richardson from Leroy and was married for 10 years.
Shirley was deeply involved with the Red Oak Grove Church. She was a member of the WELCA club. She was a deacon for the church council and was head of the church prayer chain. She was also a member of the Mary Circle and was called the “sunshine lady” of the Red Oak Grove Church. She was also a Sunday school teacher and started giving angel pins to gals who lost their spouses.
She was very active and went on daily walks which she enjoyed to the fullest. Her other hobbies included baking, word searches, flower gardening and comforting many. She loved spending time with her grand and great grandchildren and getting hugs from them.
Shirley is survived by her children; Barry (Sandra Rae) Magnuson, Brenda Qualey, Sherry (Michael) Shifflett, Sandra (Mark) Larkoski. She has 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Marlene Ingvalson, Mary Anne (Don) Ryks and one brother Steve (Mary Kay) Moe, brother-in-law Dean Krueger and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by husband Sydney and Lloyd Richardson, parents Harry and Desales Moe, brother Ronnie Moe, sister Martha Krueger and brother-in-law Laverne Ingvalson.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 at Grace Baptist Church in Austin, Minnesota with Pastor Justus Schofield officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday, September 6th at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and for one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Red Oak Grove Cemetery.
