Students from Southland, LeRoy-Ostrander and Sacred Heart schools are coming together for another collaborative show in the form of “Newsies.”

“Newsies” is inspired by the true story of the 1899 newsboy strike in New York City. Jack Kelly and his ragtag team of newsboys, along with reporter Katherine Plummer, form a union and organize a strike against the greedy publisher of the New York World, Joseph Pulitzer.

Newsies is a funny and entertaining story with pumping music that captures the strength that young people have when they join together and stand up against injustice.

Performances are Sept. 13, 14 and 21 at 6 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sept. 15. Shows are held in the Southland School Performance Art Center in Adams.
