UPDATE: Names of those killed in 218 crash Tuesday released

The Minnesota State Patrol has released the names of the two people killed Tuesday following a two-vehicle crash late in the morning on Highway 218.
One of the victims was 17-year-old Whin Gay, of Austin, who was southbound on 218, while the second was 25-year-old Jacie Mae Weaver, from Rockwell, Iowa who was driving northbound. According to the report, Gay was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
According to the report, the head-on crash occurred at around 10:48 a.m. Tuesday morning at 140th Street between Austin and Lyle. The crash closed Highway 218 for a time and has since reopened.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Lyle Fire and Ambulance, Austin Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Transportation responded.
