Delores Rae Moe, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed into her heavenly home on October 12, 2024, at the age of 86. She now joins her beloved husband, Ronald Charles Moe, who preceded her in death-a reunion she longed for since his passing.
Born on March 27, 1938, to Esther (Buehner) and Raymond Christofferson in Austin, MN, Delores was the embodiment of warmth and faith. She married Ronald on March 8, 1959, and together they built a life filled with love, generosity, and hard work. Delores lived out her faith every day, serving others, from her family to her community. Her hands and feet were never idle, crafting quilts that warmed her loved ones just as she nurtured their hearts and souls. Whether she was wiping away a tear, working on the farm, or reaching out to someone in need, Delores was always busy tending to her home, her family, or the needs of a neighbor.
Delores was a prayer warrior, constantly lifting her family and friends in prayer and sharing the love of Jesus with those she met. Her home was a place of welcome, where strangers became friends over coffee and cookies-seemingly appearing with effortless grace-while Ronald and the neighborhood farmers gathered around the table for conversation, rest, and fellowship.
Delores is survived by her children: Rick (Robin) Moe, Rhonda (Jeff) Wiedemann, Jill (Troy) Stewart, Jackie Moe (Kip Stark), Jeff Moe (Margi Brown), Jennifer Deatherage; foster children: Laura Davis, Larry Hanson, and Richie Daub. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Israel (Nicole) Moe, Selby (Saurabh) Arora, Austin Moe, Kelly (Kenton) Neu, Isaac (Lacey) Schroeder, Nathan (Abby) Schroeder, Michael Schroeder (Alyssa), Jessica (Ricky) Teschendorf, Jamie (Aaron) Fredrickson, Jana (Thomas) Lutz, Jolee Stewart, Tereasa Lindahl, Mitch (Shelly) Fields, Chelsea Miller, Marysa Moe (Michael Kline), Preston Moe (Sophie Hebrink), Chase (Samantha) Moe, Lexi (Michael) Fleming, Breanna Holt, Carter Holt, Daniel Holt, and Easton Holt, as well as 35 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Sharon (Keith) Barnes, Phyllis Paulson, and Mary (Jim) Herrick; her in-laws: Marlene Ingvalson, Mary Ann (Don) Ryks, Dean Kruger, and Steve (Mary) Moe; and her half-brother Darrel (Marian) Richards. There are countless more because when you come into this family, you are always family-Laurie, Dan, Bill, Brian, Sara, and Dan, you are forever her children and always loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Esther and Raymond Christofferson; her husband: Ronald Moe; her sisters: Barbara Deatherage and half-sister Muriel Schwartz; her brothers-in-law: Norman Schwartz, Tom Paulson, Sidney Magnuson, Timothy Deatherage, Lavern Ingvalson, and Lloyd Richardson; her sisters-in-law: Shirley Magnuson and Martha Kruger; her son-in-law: Todd Deatherage; her grandson: Tony Emmons; her niece: Amanda Folden; and her nephews: Jacob Moe and Michael Paulson.
Delores leaves behind a legacy of faith and love, her life woven together like the quilts she made-full of care, beauty, and warmth. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the incredible life she lived and the assurance that she is dancing now on streets of gold.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Bethlehem Free Church in Austin, Minnesota. Interment will be held in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
