Jean R. Vlasaty

Jean (Kramer) Vlasaty passed away on October 7, 2024, in Austin.

Jean Renee Kramer was born on January 2, 1940, to John and Verneel Kramer in Fort Dodge, IA. Jean grew up on the family farm in Iowa until 12 years of age when her family moved to Austin, MN.

Jean married Charles Vlasaty on August 13, 1960, at Church of Christ in Austin, MN. They made their home in Austin, MN, raising four boys. Jean worked in the Hormel Corporate Office mail room for 43 years before retiring in 2006.

Jean’s greatest joy was her family. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren’s activities and attended many school programs, concerts and sporting events. Jean was blessed with a special group of friends, aka, the card club ladies whom she enjoyed going on adventures with. Jean loved pigs and acquired quite a collection throughout the years. She cherished time spent together with family and friends during the holidays, especially Christmas, each year decorating with a new theme.

Jean is survived by her husband, Charles; children Todd Vlasaty of Coon Rapids, MN, Travis (Dawn) Vlasaty of Rochester, MN, and Ty (Karen) Vlasaty of Stoughton, WIand daughter-in-law Joscelyn Vlasaty of Austin, MN. She was proud grandmother to step-grandson Nick, grandsons Nicholas, Joshua, Connor, Adam, Jack, Cody, Isaac, granddaughter Alyssa and great-grandmother to Isaiah & Nichole. She is also survived by her sisters Bette (Bill) Koeff and Mary Kramer (Steve Long) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and Priscila Looper who shared a special connection with Jean.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John and Verneel; her brother John Kramer and her son Troy Vlasaty.

Jean donated her body to Mayo for science. A gathering will be held to share fellowship and memories in honor of Jean on November 2nd at 1 pm at Austin Pizza Ranch.
