Patricia A. Magee (Hanson), 93, of Austin, died Friday, October 4, 2024, at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth in Rochester, Minnesota.
Patricia “Pat” was born on February 1, 1931, in Austin, Minnesota to Alvin and Mildred (Kolpin) Hanson. She graduated from Austin High School in 1949. Pat married Kenneth Magee on November 25, 1951, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. She loved numbers and balance sheets, so her career path took the way of a bookkeeper, finishing her career at Mower House Inc.
Pat enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including furniture refinishing, ceramics, scrapbooking, Bunko club, stamping, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. There was never a couch that didn’t have a homemade afghan on it, nor a table that didn’t have one of her handcrafted doilies. Many gifts that people received over the years had a “Lovingly made by Pat, Mom, or Grandma” tag on them.
Mom and “Amma Trish,” as she was known to her grand kids, loved traveling to see her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. From sporting events and dance recitals to graduations, she tried never to miss one.
While Pat loved all holidays (and had all the decorations up for each one), Christmas was her favorite. From shopping to meal prep and baking, she was all in. For many years, the flour was flying during the great pre-Christmas lefse weekend, closely followed by cookie exchange baking weekend. Sometimes she’d have even to make extra batches to make up for what her children and husband stole from the freezer without her knowledge. She was also a member of St. Olaf Church in Austin and supported many charities over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, David, Deanna, and Duane.
Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kirk (Jody) Magee of Dover, MN; daughter, Karen Magee (Cris Rhea) of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Joseph (Megan) Magee, Michael Magee (Nikki), Katie (Tim) Kane, John (Cait) Magee, Mary (Tyler) Britt; and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Cynthia, John (Barbara), Suzie.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Kris Ferkin officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
Arrangements by Clasen-Jordan Mortuary.
