Austin sophomore Gracie Greenman continued to get faster at the Class A state swimming preliminaries at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota Friday.
Greenman re-set her AHS school record time in the 100-yard backstroke by taking second and advancing to the finals. Greenman’s time on Friday was 57.47 seconds, which was half a second faster than her qualifying time.
Aliania Biebl of Mounds Park Academy had the top time of 56.02 second in the preliminaries.
Greenman advanced to the consolation finals in the 200-yard individual medley as she took 13th place with a time of 2:14.28. That time was also good enough to re-set her AHS record by .1 of a second.
The Class finals will begin at noon Saturday.
