Austin’s Kennedy is in first place after state diving semifinals

Austin senior Alayna Kennedy is in prime position after the first day of the Minnesota Class A state swimming and diving meet at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota Thursday.
Kennedy, the defending state champ, leads the field with a total score of 318.5 and Austin senior Reese Norton is in 12th place with a score of 245.0.
Josie Bossen of St. Anthony is in second place with a score of 267.95.
Kennedy will chase the gold in Saturday’s finals, which begin at noon.
