Betsy I. Retterath, 88

Betsy I. Retterath, age 88, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, November 18, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society – Comforcare of Austin, Minnesota.

Betsy Ione Bjork was born August 2, 1936, the daughter of Fred and Mabel (Thorseth) Bjork. She graduated from Austin High School in 1954. Betsy married John (Huntz) Retterath on May 3, 1956, in Johnsburg, Minnesota. They raised their family of six children in Taopi, Minnesota. She worked hard on the farm. They were later divorced. Betsy resided in Adams, Minnesota where she worked in home health care for many years until retirement. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, talking on the phone, watching TV, especially QVC shopping network and the View, reading magazines and the newspaper.

Betsy is survived by her children, Brenda Jorgensen of Austin, Minnesota, Mark Retterath of Austin, Minnesota, Marcia (Rick) Igou of Dexter, Minnesota, Barry Retterath of Nashua, Iowa, Becky (Jim) Miller of Riceville, Iowa, and Beth (David) Wilson of Austin, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren, Brittany (Ben) Rikhus, Benjamin Jorgensen, Melissa (Marcus Ball) Tschann, Danielle Tschann, Jason Igou, Samantha (Jonathan) Peterson, Alicia (Justin) Denner, Cassandra (Josh) Lichty, Garret Retterath, Derek Miller, Morgan (Brady) Foster, John Miller, and Jordan Wilson; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Randy Schmidt); and brothers, Joseph (Janet) Bjork, Delano (Ramona) Bjork, and Roger (Lila) Bjork.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mabel Bjork; five sisters; and four brothers.

A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the funeral home until 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
