Emergency personnel responded to a vehicle fire on Oakland Avenue West early Tuesday evening.
According to Austin Police Department Captain Todd Clennon in a release to the media Wednesday morning, officers were dispatched to the area of 19th Street and Oakland Avenue West for a vehicle on fire at around 7:25 p.m. Tuesday night.
Officers discovered the vehicle, a 2008 GMC Acadia parked and facing eastbound on the shoulder of Oakland venue West. The entire front engine area was fully engulfed in flames and officers couldn’t get close enough to the vehicle to verify if it was unoccupied or occupied.
The Austin Fire Department then arrived on scene, put the fire out and verified it was unoccupied.
The owner of the vehicle reported that she was traveling eastbound on Oakland Avenue West when she received an alert on her dashboard regarding her oil levels, which was followed by the vehicle shaking badly and another alert to turn the engine off.
Once parked and out of her vehicle a passerby alerted her that the vehicle was on fire.
There were no injuries for any related property damage.
