LEROY – The celebration is over for the LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle-Pacelli football team.

A few days after their dramatic 35-26 win over Kingsland in the Section 1 nine player title game, the Cardinals were back at practice in LeRoy Monday.

Now the team is focusing on Renville County West in a Class Nine Player Quarterfinal game, which will be played in Kasson-Mantorville High School at 7 p.m. Friday night.

L-O/L-P head coach Trevor Carrier said the team is ready to focus after the big win over the Knights.

“It was a very physical game and I think that Kingsland is a top five team in the state. The rivalry is there with them so the emotions were very high,” Carrier said. “Our boys came back here and we went right back to the drawing board. If we don’t play (against Renville) we go home and there is no tomorrow. There is no doubt in my mind we’ll be able to refocus and get going again.”

The Cardinals (11-0 overall) are ranked No. 5 in QRF and they outscore their opponents on an average of 51.3-18.8 and RCW (8-3 overall) is ranked No. 16 in QRF and they outscore their opponents on an average of 33.6-14.5 per game.

“They run a lot of spread and we’ll see some different things from them,” Carrier said. “They have a big running back, two good receivers and a quarterback, who’s pretty good at passing and running. They’re a good team and they didn’t get this far for nothing.”

If L-O/L-P wins on Friday, it will take on the lowest remaining seeded team from the north at 4 p.m. on Nov. 14 in US Bank Stadium.
