You may have read our story in Saturday’s paper regarding the Salvation Army and its need for volunteers and support.
We hope it got you considering how you can help, because in the end, helping the Salvation Army ultimately helps Austin and its citizens.
The first step, if you are considering that very question, is becoming a volunteer because not only will you be lending a hand, but you will gain meaningful insight into how the SA does continue supporting Austin.
This holiday season alone, the Salvation Army has a number of events and programs designed to help people from meals, to its Angel Tree and to ringing bells for its Red Kettle drive.
You will probably pass more than once bell ringers ringing for donations this holiday season, which is another way you can help.
Whatever is in your pocket can do more than you think as money raised goes toward operational expenses and among those is keeping the SA’s food pantry healthy and stocked.
Many of us will enjoy all the bounty the holidays have to offer, but these are difficult times and so many more will struggle to make ends meet and put proper food on the table.
We’re not asking you to considering giving large sums of money or full days of volunteer. If you can, that’s fantastic and we laud your effort.
But if all you can give at a time is some spare change for a couple dollars, then that is just as good because every bit of money the Salvation Army can receive on the way toward their $70,000 goal is another opportunity to help someone in need.
