It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of our beloved Ilene Carroll, who peacefully left this world on December 8, 2024. Ilene was a devoted wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt whose presence filled every room with warmth and light. Her love for her family was boundless, and her nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Ilene was born on April 30, 1948 in Norway, Michigan to Elmer and Julia (Thaler) Alexanderson. She graduated from Norway High School in 1966.
Ilene was a cherished mother of four, a loving stepmother to three, the proud grandmother of 22 and great-grandmother of four. Her family was her heart, and she dedicated herself to them with kindness, wisdom, and an unwavering love. Her legacy lives on in each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the countless nieces and nephews whose lives she brightened with her care and affection.
For 30 years, Ilene worked at Kmart, and for five years, she was part of the team at Maverick Nutrition. In both of these roles, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and the way she made those around her feel valued and loved. Her strength and determination were matched only by her kindness.
Ilene had a deep love for travel, often spending her winters in Arizona, where she enjoyed the sun and celebrated life. She loved to explore new places and create memories with her family and friends. When at home, she could be found in the kitchen cooking delicious meals, crocheting thoughtful gifts, or learning new technology skills-always eager to try something new and share her knowledge with others.
Her passion for life, her generosity of spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel special are what we will miss the most. Ilene’s laughter, her warm hugs, and her endless love will forever live in our hearts. She was a shining example of what it means to love selflessly and wholeheartedly.
Ilene is deeply loved and will be forever missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, and all of the many friends and family members whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to inspire us all.
Ilene is survived by her husband, Doug Carroll of Austin; her children Danielle (Jason) Bonnicksen of Comfrey, MN, Kevin (Allison) Divine of Pearcy, AR, Brooke (Adam) Scherer of Naperville, IL, Kaitlynn (Ben) Sherman of Glenwood Springs, CO, Chris (Rachel) Carroll of Gilbert, AZ, Kelle Shubkagel of Olathe, KS, Shannon (Scott) Robinson of Queen Creek, AZ; her father Elmer Alexanderson of Norway, MI; siblings, Patsy (Gary) Schultz of Neenah, WI, Eric (Carol) Alexanderson of Fortson, GA; sibling-in-law, Richard (Rosalie) Carroll of Austin, MN; grandchildren, Hallie (Miles), Emma, Grace, Madison, Amos, Lauren, Kiersten, Vaughn, Bennett, Aaron, Alissa, Alec, Daniel, Michael, Luke, Mason, Lauren, Hope, Jon, Alex, Vaughn, & Seth; great grandchildren, Bishop, Booker, Yue, & Zuko; many nieces and nephews.
