Linda Jo Johnson, 77

Linda Jo (Page) Johnson, age 77, of Austin, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. Linda was born on May 27, 1947, in Austin, Minnesota, to Francis and Ardella Page and graduated from AHS Class of 1965.
Her husband, Wayne, was smitten after “just one look” when he saw Linda in Junior High at a school dance. She loved the 60’s music and was a standout on the dance floor at Austin’s legendary “Tower” or at any other music venue. The dance of life continued when Linda and Wayne married on July 30, 1966. They made their lifelong home in Austin and were later blessed with two children, Steven and Jennifer.
Linda was an avid walker, immaculate housekeeper, unrivaled baker (known best for her infamous carrot cake and perfect molasses cookies) and caring person who perhaps worried about others a bit too much.
Through the years Linda worked in various positions, but most enjoyed those where she could help others. At K-12/Kid’s Corner and Mayo Austin Services she was compassionate to the children in her care and patients who needed assistance. Years later, many of those “kids” now grown, or Mayo patients still living in Austin, would stop Linda on the street to thank her for the kindness she had shown them.
Linda maintained a social network of life-long friends (long before Facebook) and she was grateful to each of them. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her friends and family or a chance to dance, travel, shop or get lucky on an occasional game of KENO. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandbaby, Jayla. Linda was loved and will be missed. Blessed be her memory.
Linda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wayne Johnson of Austin; children, Steven (Jenni) Johnson of Austin, Jennifer Johnson (Rick Duffy) of Austin; grandchildren, Gage Johnson of Addison, TX, Ethan Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, and Olivia Johnson of Stewartville, MN; siblings, Mitchell (Connie) Page of Englewood, CO, and Vickie (Mark) Hessenius of Austin; siblings-in-law, Delano Senjem of Hayfield, MN, and Julie Page of Red Wing, MN; sister-in-law, Julie Crowder; brothers-in-law, Rick (Kathy) Johnson, and Bob (Pat) Elit; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Ardella Page; great-granddaughter, Jayla Jones; siblings, Frannette (Page) Senjem, and Daniel Page; and brother-in-law, Dennis Crowder.
A memorial service for Linda will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer’s Association, or the donor’s choice.
