None injured in Thanksgiving night house fire

Nobody was injured, however a dog died, as a result of a house fire on Thanksgiving.

According to Austin Fire Chief Jim McCoy, firefighters were dispatched to the 200 block of Sixth Street NW at around 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 28. Once on scene, firefighters found flames coming from the north side of the house.

Initial crews worked to suppress the fire as more firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

McCoy said nobody was at home at the time of the fire, and that the dog was found deceased inside the home.

The State Fire Marshal was called to the scene, but was unable to determine the cause. Damage to the home is estimated at $50,000.
