The Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy girls basketball team lost to Spring Grove (3-0 overall) 55-33 in Spring Grove Tuesday.

The Vikings (2-2 overall) led 20-12 in the first half and they led 50-45 with five minutes left, but the Lions roared back to win it.

“I’m really happy with how well our girls played for stretches tonight against a team that will most likely be ranked in the Class A polls all year,” Viking head coach Kasey Krekling said. “We gave them everything they could handle on their home floor but couldn’t hold on tonight. This game will make us better as we continue to mesh our two programs into one.”
