Bryon Leslie Tapp, age 63, passed away on Thursday afternoon, January 23, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Born and raised on the family farm in rural Dexter, Minnesota, he spent his early years developing his creative side, working on pottery, sculptures, carvings, and welding. Bryon married Pamela Finke and together they raised two sons, Adam and Alex, on a farm near his parents, where he worked alongside family for 22 years.
Bryon married the love of his life, Bonnie Sersland, at the family cabin on September 6, 2009, and relocated to Decorah, Iowa for a short while before ultimately residing in Austin, Minnesota. A brilliant man with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, he pursued studies in computer networking and worked for a short time in IT. He also explored the fields of nursing and genetics, contemplating a path that would allow him to care for others.
Bryon had a passion for music, playing and producing tracks for many years, and he embraced a number of other creative hobbies… creating beautiful pencil and painted artwork, remodeling his home, restoring old motorcycles into stylish cafe racers and turning the backyard into a garden oasis he harvested to cook amazing meals for Bonnie. He also enjoyed and excelled at smoking meats which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. His love for firearms led him to seek out target practice whenever possible, and his wicked sense of humor entertained those lucky enough to spend time with him.
Bryon is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie; his son, Adam (Jerica) and granddaughter, Reagan; brothers, Steve (Lesli), Mike, Brad (Julie), and Tracy (Amy); parents-in-law, Bob and Sadie Sersland; siblings-in-law, Keith (Peggy) Sersland, Cheryl (Brent) Carlson, Deanna (Jim) Lizarraga; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Shirley Tapp; cherished son, Alex; and Bonnie’s beloved daughter, Gabrielle Gerleman.
A memorial gathering for Bryon will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
