Daniel Joseph Lukes, age 64, of Austin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin, due to medical complications.
Danny was born September 4, 1960 in Austin, Minnesota to Sheldon and Shirley (Nelson) Lukes. He was Baptized on October 30, 1960 at Trondhjem Lutheran Church. Danny attended Austin Public Schools until the age of 18, he then went to work for Cedar Valley Services, Inc. Danny was still working for Cedar Valley in the Top Flight Program up until his death. Danny was always up for an adventure. He loved to be around people, he enjoyed music, doing his puzzles, playing with his wiffle balls, getting into a little mischief and mastering his own form of art with his pens and paper. He was a beautiful ray of joy to his family. Danny will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Danny was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Teri Lukes; brothers, Jeffrey Lukes and Raymond Lukes; maternal grandparents, Sheldon and Alma Nelson; paternal grandparents, Charles and Mabel Lukes.
Danny is survived by his parents, Sheldon and Ruth Lukes; sisters, Cindy Meyers and Julie (Mike) Raver; brothers, Allen Johnson and Bradley (Toni) Lukes; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Danny’s pall bearers are some of his amazing caregivers he has had over the years: Sue Brown, Norma Plath, Sue Martin, Shelby Gilster, Tonia Ruroden and Victoria Houston. Our deepest gratitude to these angels along with so many others too numerous to list from REM, Lutheran Social Services-Cenneidigh and Cedar Valley Services. We are so grateful for your love and care of Danny!
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin with Pastor Josh Enderson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at Clasen-Jordan on Wednesday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to LIFE Mower County, Cedar Valley Services-Top Flight or Trondhjem Lutheran Church.
