Jeanne Butler

Jeanne Louise Butler (née Wedding) was born on September 25, 1946, in Austin, Minnesota. Her parents Kenneth and Irenaea (“Naea”) Wedding welcomed Jeanne as their fourth child and second daughter.

Jeanne attended Pacelli High from 1960 to 1964, and stood out with her scholastics and cheerleading. At home, she helped parents with taking care of her siblings.

Jeanne graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing (1964 to 1967) and married Timothy H. Butler (1967). She worked at Abbot Northwestern Medical Center and other hospitals for many years. Jeanne gave birth to two sons, Christopher (1969) and John (1971).

In 1990, the family moved to Seattle, Washington. Jeanne worked for several years at the Northwest Lipid Clinic, overseeing a number of randomized clinical trials for lifesaving medical treatments. Later, she worked as one of the top wound care nurses at the Group Health Clinic in Seattle.

Jeanne joined her sister Julie and brother Joe to live in the warmer climes of the south, moving to a community north of Austin, Texas, and visiting her family in Seattle whenever she could, until her passing.

Jeanne is survived by her former husband, Timothy Butler, her sons, Chris and John Butler, her daughters-in-law, Kimberly Schlichting-Butler and Amanda Olson-Butler, and Jeanne’s grandchildren, Sophie, John Paul, Sloane, and Blakely, along with her surviving siblings and spouses, Jim and Lynne Wedding, Julie and Bruce Vanderhaar, Jerre Wedding, and Joe Wedding, together with Jeanne’s siblings John Wedding and Janet Wedding, who have preceded her in passing.

Celebration of life with family and friends on January 9th in Seattle, WA where we will have a boat ride to say goodbye and a family dinner. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to American Heart association to honor her work with heart disease.
