I encourage all citizens of Mower County to pay close attention to what your elected representatives are doing during the tumultuous months ahead.

Brad Finstad ran as a moderate conservative, one who would not be beholden to those on the extreme.  He is now acting like anything but “moderate.”   Rather than focusing on issues that will affect the lives of his constituents, he is instead co-sponsoring legislation that will have little to no impact on Mower County but will pander to the extreme right and billionaires in Washington.

Since the end of December he has co-sponsored over 20 bills, bills that will restrict voting rights, remove funding from the IRS that would support the collection of overdue taxes from wealthy individuals and corporations, allow gun legislation from other states to supersede those of Minnesota, remove funding (that has nothing to do with abortion) from clinics that provide health care to women, repeal legislation that limits the ability of individuals with malicious intent (e.g. money laundering, terrorism) to hide their actions, and more.

Much of the legislation he is sponsoring is purely performative – designed to appease the extreme right and unlikely to have any impact; but some will have adverse effects on the lives, livelihood, and liberties of the citizens of Mower County. For more information, go to the US House legislative website congress.gov.

Contact Mr. Finstad and let him know that we are paying attention and expect him to represent our interests, not the interests of the extreme billionaires.
