The Mower County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a theft from an ATM machine early Saturday morning in LeRoy.
According to a press release from Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik Monday afternoon, deputies were dispatched to an ATM at the First State Bank in LeRoy at around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The report of the theft also reportedly involved a silver full-sized pick-up.
Deputies responding to the alarm observed a vehicle matching the description traveling west on Mower County Road 6 and attempted to stop the vehicle.
According to Monday’s release, the truck continued on in order to try and evade deputies. The vehicle turned onto a gravel road and pursuing deputies lost sight of the vehicle briefly, only to locate it a half mile down the road after having rolled. One male was observed fleeing the crashed vehicle, but was unable to be located following an extensive search.
However, a male matching the description of the suspect was located and detained in Mitchell County, Iowa by Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office deputies as a subject of interest.
Sandvik said that the investigation is ongoing and anybody with information regarding the case are encouraged to call the Mower County Sheriff’s Office at 1-507-437-9400.
