In our upcoming and annual Progress edition, which we are putting the final touches on now and getting ready to send, we will feature as one of our many offerings a story on Riverland Community College’s Multi-Cultural Club.

After a forced hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club has returned to offer another place for students of diverse backgrounds that are going to school at RCC.

The Multi-Cultural Club certainly wasn’t the only club to be impacted by COVID, but is representative of the rich well of resources the school has available for students.

In a sentence, the vast array of clubs and organizations offered at Riverland represent a variety of ways for a student to get involved on campus — a community onto its own.

But it’s more than contributing to your school. At its heart these groups, ranging from the honors program Phi Theta Kappa all the way to the Dungeons and Dragons Club offer opportunities for students to interact and get to know each other.

They are opportunities, incredibly important opportunities, to broaden horizons and contribute further to a student finding their own way.

The junior college experience is a landscape populated by a wide range of students in terms of both backgrounds and ages. The student population is made up of students coming out of high school, students coming from other countries, students who are looking for a change in the employment landscape.

Think about that incredible range of experience coming to one central location and you begin to see what can be achieved through joining one of these many clubs.

Thanks to the story we were able to write, we were able to see first hand the dedication these clubs and organizations make to a student’s experience at Riverland and the far-reaching effects it can have on a student’s life into the future.

If you’re a student currently attending Riverland Community College or looking at attending the college, then we highly recommend one of the many clubs the school offers and see if there is one that’s right for you.

We guarantee the experience will be worth it and will be something you carry with you in the years after you leave the classrooms of Riverland.
