Thursday morning, demolition began on the Austin Daily Herald’s downtown location.
Work will center today on taking down the warehouse and garage portion of the building with a hope that further demolition will take place next week.
For 53 years, the Herald had found a home in downtown Austin before moving its location in June of last year to 1511 Oakland Avenue South.
Founded in 1891, the Herald moved to its location at 210 Third Avenue NE in October of 1971.
