Kyle Breitbarth returned the opening kick 89 yards for a touchdown to start the scoring spree for Grand Meadow in a 51-14 Southern Confederacy Conference win Friday night over GHECML in Granada.

Breitbarth also threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Superlarks smoothed out some rough spots against the struggling Mustangs squad. Grand Meadow minimized the mistakes that had plagued them in big games earlier this season and drove home a decisive victory.

"We played pretty well last night, probably the best game we've played," said GM coach Gary Sloan. "We were very aggressive on defense. We hit real hard last night, and not just on defense.

"It wasn't a perfect game by any means, but all-in-all it was probably our best one yet."

Grand Meadow gained 297 yards on the ground and 140 more through the air, totalling 437 all-purpose yards. GHECML was held to 148 total yards.

Zac Benson carried 10 times for 86 yards and a touchdown, while Breitbarth racked up 69 yards. Fullback Ryan Ament added 58 yards and a touchdown in "probably his best all-around game of the year," according to Coach Sloan.

Breitbarth also completed 6-of-10 passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns. Chad Doocy, Anthony Stejskal and Justin Olson were each on the receiving end of a touchdown pass.

Olson was one seven different receivers on nine completions for Grand Meadow quarterbacks. Olson made two grabs for 27 yards.

"We've made more of a concerted effort to get him the ball," Coach Sloan said. "He's really impressed us lately."

Doocy's 36-yard touchdown catch came on the second offensive play of the game for GM, who scored 20 points in the first quarter and eventually led 51-0. Josh Jacobson rushed four yards for the final Superlark score.
