Devils net needed win at West

The Riverland volleyball team righted its ship for a shot at state with a 3-2 MCCC Southern Division win at Minnesota West Wednesday night in Worthington.
The Lady Blue Devils (9-9, 2-3) faced a much-needed win with Minnesota West, a team tied in the standings with Riverland heading into the league match.
"Going into this game we were pretty much even with Minnesota West, so we really needed to pull this one out," said Devils coach Helen Jahr. "As far as our status in the conference goes and us making it to the state tournament, this was really an important game to win."
Riverland won in five, 30-25, 18-30, 30-23, 28-30, 15-2.
Aubree Page posted team-highs with 24 kills and six blocks. Becky Herrmann and Kari Wobschall chipped in with 12 kills apiece.
Herrmann led the way with 29-of-30 serving, including five aces, and Page went 17-for-18 with three aces.
Ellie Ramseth distributed 37 set-assists, while Steph Vollbrecht and Tanya Jensen accounted for a number of the digs. The sophomore defensive specialists allotted 30 and 25 digs respectively.
Riverland hosts Bethany Lutheran this Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
