Those who have ties with the Mower County Fairgrounds -- whether it be fair board members or those associated with the numerous 4-H clubs in this area -- are likely pleased to hear about the new buildings that will be constructed before next year's fair.

We join them in that enthusiasm, as the new buildings will give those who visit our area (and those of us who live here) a renewed sense of pride on what we have to offer in and around the Austin area.

Mower County commissioners are to be commended for getting the ball rolling and opening up the bids for this project. Commissioners will start accepting bids later next month.

Construction on the buildings should be done by next year's fair, giving fairgoers and those attending next year's National Barrow Show something to marvel at.

We're pleased this project is moving forward and we're confident these fairground improvements will be something we can all be proud of.
