Austin man participates in Ironman Wisconsin event

Roe Erlandson, of Austin, participated in the inaugural Ironman Wisconsin Triathalon in Madison, Wisc., on Sunday, Sept. 15. The event, which included athletes from 25 countries, consisted of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run.
Erlandson finished the event in 13 hours, 34 minutes. His time placed him 1,188th out of 1,801 participants, and 14th out of 42 in the men's 55-59 age group. Roe has competed in many shorter triathalons as well as numerous marathons and ultra-marathons, but this was his first ironman-length triathalon.
