Kelly Reetz and Steph Eslinger each scored a pair of goals as the Austin girls' soccer team won for the first time since Sept. 3 with a 6-0 shutout of host Faribault Thursday night.

Reetz and Emily Lorenzen scored within seven minutes of each other to give the Packers (3-9, 2-8) a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. The Packers fired out of the lockerroom with three goals in the first 11 minutes of the second half, including a pair by Eslinger and Reetz's second.

Katie Brody finished off the victory with her first goal at the 70-minute mark.

"We played a complete game tonight," said AHS coach Mark Raymond. "The defense played extremely well, accounting for all attacking forwards and stepping up when they could to force the play high on the pitch.

"This allowed us to play more of the game on their half of the field."

Meggan Rider's defense stood out to Coach Raymond as a key role in the victory.

"Meggan Rider played an excellent game taking control of the defense and getting them to work together as a unit," Raymond said. "She did an excellent job of commanding on the field.

"(This game) was a demonstration of how well we can play when all of the players on the field are active. I hope this was the type of positive feed back they needed to continue working hard and getting better."

The Packers play a pair of road games next week, starting at Mankato East on Tuesday and Caledonia on Thursday. Austin lost to Caledonia early in the regular season, while a 4-2 win against East accounted for the Packers' second win of the year.
