Construction crews will set poles and install lighting at eight intersections in rural Mower, Goodhue, Olmsted, Rice and Winona counties starting Tuesday. Lighting intersections at night in rural areas improves safety by helping motorists see they are approaching an intersection, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists may experience brief lane closures. All intersections are scheduled to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.
Mankato Electric, Inc. is the prime contractor for the $104,661 project, which includes eight intersections throughout the five counties.
In Mower County, the lighting will be installed at the intersection of Highway 218 and Highway 251.
