The Austin Jaycee All-Stars 12-and-under baseball team ended season play Saturday with a split against Albert Lea.
The Jaycees had a 5-0 lead in the first game heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but walks and a key error allowed Albert Lea to push six runs across the plate for the win. Kody Retterath took the mound loss.
Austin bounced back to take the second game 8-4, with Derek Emanuel getting the pitching victory with relief help from MacEagon Voyce.
The Jaycees ended the season 26-13 overall.
"We had one of our best seasons," collaborated coaches Gabby Weiss, Greg Marx and Lefty Kelly. "We won three tourneys, won our bracket in three others and finished third in the Can-Am tourney in Canada."
The team will be honored at a golf/banquet at Ramsey Golf Course Wednesday, August 21.
