If you've ever moved to a new community, you know that it can be difficult at times to meet people.

That's where the Austin Area Newcomers Club steps in. And Saturday, there will be a Mexican Fiesta for adults.

All new residents of the Austin area who have been here two years or less are invited to join the club. Club organizers have said the event brings together newcomers in a casual atmosphere to make friends and get acquainted with the community. The club also arranges informal meetings with local businesses and residents and other outings.

The club meets monthly.

Those interested in attending Saturday's event are asked to call Nancy Honke at 434-2968. The club will also host a family barbecue on Aug. 23. Those attending are asked to bring their own beverages and a dish to pass. Hot dogs will be provided.
