Richard Francis Nemitz, 86

Richard Francis Nemitz, 86, of Austin, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

He was born Dec. 28, 1915, to Henry and Anna (Norris) Nemitz in Austin.

He grew up and attended school in the Austin area, and later served in the Army.

Returning to Austin, he worked until retirement in 1975. He moved to Remer in Cass County and worked as a caretaker at Campfire Girls Camp until 1980. He returned to Austin in 1990.

He was a member of the American Legion.

He moved to St. Mark's Lutheran Home Aug. 8, 1997.

Survivors include sons, Gary (Barbara) Nemitz, Austin; Larry Nemitz, Britt, Iowa; daughters, Judith (Karon) Smalley, Kasson; Vicky (Verne) Gutman, Greene, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Donald) Bergstrom, Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack.

Visitation: At the church for one hour before the service. There will be no reviewal.

Service: 3 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Bethlehem Free Methodist Church in Austin with the Rev. John Ewert officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
