Austin hit the ball as hard as it had all season, but Class B Greyhounds did not get the hits to show for it in a 4-3 road loss at Waseca Wednesday night.

The Greyhounds (25-13) accumulated three runs off eight hits and no Braves errors, but Waseca stole an early 4-1 lead and made it stick. Austin added two runs in the top of the seventh thanks to wild pitches that allowed Nick Rohne and John Frein to scamper home.

Craig Selk’s two-out single to left field accounted for the Greyhounds’ only RBI, driving in Tate Cummins who had earlier doubled in the top of the first.

&uot;We hit in this game harder than any other game all season,&uot; Cummins said. &uot;We just couldn’t get anything going.&uot;

Dave Meyer and Tim Kaplan each accounted for two Austin hits as the ‘Hounds out hit Waseca 8-5.

&uot;They made all the plays,&uot; Cummins said. &uot;We had to have lined out 8-to-10 times.&uot;

Nick Dolan took the pitching loss despite striking out 11 over eight innings. Chris Pack will get the start for the Greyhounds when they host second-rated Mankato Twins Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
