Four men arrested on meth charges

Four men are in jail after being arrested for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

According to Police Chief Paul Philipp, Target contacted the Austin Police Department Friday night to report a man had purchased a large amount of sudafedrine.

Police officers stopped the car on the entrance ramp to Interstate 90 West and asked the driver if the police canine could sniff the car. To driver agreed and when the dog indicated there were drugs in the car, police asked the three passengers to get out of the car and then they searched it.

Officers found 1,056 tablets of sudafedrine, Coleman fuel, brake fluid, a glass cooking bowl, batteries, a timer and plastic pop bottles, all of which are used to make methamphetamine.

Three of the men, aged 18, 21 and 25 are from Forest City, Iowa. The fourth man, aged 21, is from Crystal Lake, Iowa. All four are currently awaiting charges in the Mower County Jail.
