Albert Lee Schmeichel, 82

Albert Lee Schmeichel, 82, of Hastings, formerly of Austin, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Regina Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 31, 1919, in McLaughlin, S.D., to John and Elizabeth Schmeichel.

In June 1942, he married Stella Perry.

He was employed with the Hormel Meat Company for nearly 40 years until his retirement.

Survivors include wife, Stella Schmeichel, Hastings; son, Charles (Lisa) Schmeichel, San Francisco, Calif.; daughters, Barbara, Nevada; Suzanne (Gary) Gerlach, St. Paul; Joan (John) Samuelson, Hastings; Jean Schmeichel, Mendota Heights; Ann (Craig Anderson) Schmeichel, Elkton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the chapel.

Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2002, at Regina Chapel in Hastings with Father John Marley officiating. Pallbearers will be John Samuelson, Gary Gerlach, Craig Anderson, Josh Samuelson, Jerad Samuelson and Jim Schmeichel.

Interment: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery, Hastings.
