Fluorescent colors, big hair, polyester, dancing -- it's the 1980s.
The rights for the 1984 musical and 1998 play, 'Footloose,' have been released and is being produced for the first time in southeastern Minnesota by Riverland Theatre and Music department.
Director Jerry Girton said, for the past month the company has been working hard on the production and have put the finishing touches on the musical production.
"The audience will have a good time. They will hear 'Footloose,' 'Let's hear it for the boy' and 'Almost Paradise.' It has all the fun of the movie," Girton said.
Tonight will be the only dinner theatre production. It will be presented at Frank W. Bridges Theater.
The Austin campus cafeteria will begin dinner seating at 6:15 p.m., with dinner entertainment provided by Brad Weber and Lia Bauer Culbert.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight, a day before the show opens for its
seven-day run.
Tickets can be purchased for the dinner theater and the following productions at Riverland Box Office or can be reserved by calling 507-433-0595.
