A Brownsdale home is likely a total loss after a fire early Thursday.
The upper-level of the residence, located at 26729 570th Ave., went up in flames at around 6 a.m., likely because of an electric space heater that malfunctioned.
Toni Mindrup, 43, and two children were inside the home at the time of the blaze, but all three got out safely, according to a sheriff’s department report. Mindrup reported the fire to authorities after leaving the house.
Austin and Brownsdale fire departments responded to the incident, but the report indicates that the house sustained heavy damage before the blaze was extinguished.
The specific dollar amount of damage and cause of fire were not indicated in the report, and the case remains under investigation.
