Esther Louise Nelson, 92
Esther Louise Nelson, 92, of Lyle, died March 28, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar, Iowa.
She was born March 24, 1910, to Peter Henry and Minnie (Sievert) Fahje in Elkton, where she resided until 1914 when the family moved to Kenmare, S.D.
On Sept. 6, 1936, she married Francis L. Nelson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kenmare, N.D.
They moved to Lyle in 1938 where her husband continues to live after her death.
She was a member of WELCA at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle. She held offices including president of Lyle Study Club and Woodbury Willing Workers.
She enjoyed quilting, cooking and baking.
Survivors include husband, Francis Nelson, Lyle; children, Shirley (Nels) Golberg, St. Ansgar, Iowa; Jean Nelson, Lyle; Roger (Marge) Nelson, Lyle; Lois (Ronald) Peters, Austin; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Irene Fahje and Helen Fahje; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice; brothers, John, Walter, Bernie, Martin and Lester.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m., today, March 29, 2002, at the funeral home and Saturday at the church one hour before the service.
Service: 1 p.m., Saturday, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating.
Interment: Woodbury Cemetery.

A. Ronald Thompson, 90
A. Ronald "Ronnie" Thompson, 90, of Lansing, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the Owatonna Hospital.
He was born June 20, 1911, in Mower County, to Aaron and Rose (Lien) Thompson.
He attended Austin High School. He worked for Ulland Brothers of Austin from 1931 to 1948. In 1948, he and Edwin Lewison formed Thompson-Lewison Excavating Construction Company and were in business together until 1972 when they dissolved their partnership and Ronnie formed Thompson Excavating. He retired in 1978.
He was a member of the Elks Club, the Masons, Scottish Rites and Osman Shrine and Blooming Prairie Shrine Club.
He was baptized and confirmed at Red Oak Grove Church and was an active supporter of the Lansing Methodist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, flying his airplane, computers and spending time with family and neighbors.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Terry Wiese, Owatonna; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Nicholsen, Largo, Fla.; Hazel Vadnais, St. Paul; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth, in 1997; two brothers; two sisters.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2002, with a 7:30 p.m. Masonic service at the funeral home and Monday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 1:30 p.m., Monday, at First United Methodist Church in Austin with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Music will be by the honorary bearers. Casket bearers will be Marc Wiese, Gary Wiese, Kim Rosenau, Bill Rosenau, Chuck Alley, Harold Boverhuis and Doug Bolstorff.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
Funeral Home: Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, Austin.
Memorials: To charity of donors choice.
