Hayfield Heat advance; will play in Austin tonight

The Hayfield Heat won their first amateur baseball postseason contest in their two-year history when it topped Plainview 6-0 in a first round Twin Rivers Tournament game in Plainview Sunday.

The No. 2 seeded Heat (12-9 overall) stranded 16 runners, but they plated four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to put it away.

Bill Held allowed just four hits in eight innings of work, while striking out eight for Hayfield.

The Heat will play No. 3 seeded Pine Island in Marcusen Park in Austin tonight at 7:30 p.m. The winner advances to regional play.
