A 13-year-old boy was taken to the Austin Medical Center after being struck by a car Wednesday.

A 13-year-old boy was taken to the Austin Medical Center after being struck by a car Wednesday.
According to Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp, a 47-year-old Austin man was driving on 12th Street SW when the boy ran from in between cars parked on the side of the street into the path of the man’s car.
A woman who was driving in the opposite direction saw the incident and says the man was not driving over the speed limit.
The boy was taken to the hospital for evaluation after complaining of pain in his right ankle.
Lyle man held in jail
A Lyle man is being held in the Mower County Jail after running stop signs twice Wednesday.
According to Mower County Sheriff Barry Simonson, officers from the Austin Police Department and the Mower County Sheriff’s Department cited the man twice for running a stop sign, driving without insurance and driving without a license.
The first incident occured in Lyle after 5 a.m. and the second occured shortly after 11 p.m. in Austin. The man was driving a different car each time he was stopped by officers and each time the car was towed.
After the second incident the man was taken to the jail and is now awaiting formal complaint.
