A 17-year-old boy has been taken to Many Rivers Detention Center in Rochester after he allegedly assaulted a female employee of Caribbean Suntan in Austin.
According to Mower County Chief Deputy Terese Amazi, the boy walked up behind the employee who was vacuuming at approximately 9 p.m. Monday, and groped her. The owner witnessed the incident and tried to catch the male, but was unsuccessful.
Yesterday, while the owner was driving through Austin, he found himself following the boy’s car and contacted the police department. The boy was stopped and arrested.
Man arrested for assaulting officer, drug possession
A 38-year-old Austin man who was arrested Tuesday night for probation violation also was cited with assaulting an officer and felony possession of a controlled substance.
The man was arrested in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue SW and taken to the Mower County Jail. At the jail, the man insisted he had to use the restroom because he felt sick. Officers asked the man to take off his boots, before entering the restroom, but the man refused and struck an officer in the side of the head.
When officers removed the man’s boots, they found 3.7 grams of cocaine in his socks.
The man is being held in the jail, pending charges.
