Edwin Boerner, 73

Memorial services for Edwin L. Boerner, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. The Rev. Tom Biatek will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel and one hour prior to the service.

Edwin died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Three Fingers Campground in Forest City, Iowa. He was 73 years of age.

Ed was born Aug. 8, 1937, in Albert Lea, the son of Henry and Virgil (Flanagan) Boerner. He received his education in Albert Lea. Ed was a Freeborn County resident most of his life and was self employed as a truck driver for many years. He also worked for the Streator Co. and Swift Eckrich.

Ed was a long-time member of the Albert Lea Clown Troop and a member of AA for over 20 years.

On Sept. 22, 1982, he was united in marriage to Marlene M. Gulbertson in Alaska.

Ed loved camping, riding motorcycles, tattoos and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Boerner, of Albert Lea; father-in-law, Francis Gulbertson, of Albert Lea; children: Scott (June) Meyers of Los Angels, Calif., Darcy (Nick Pete) Boerner, of Colorado, Tony Boerner and his special friend, Joe, of Albert Lea, and Angela Sanchez, of Albert Lea; grandchildren include: Madeline, Eleanor, Julian, Shamea, Shaelynn, Rudy and Selena; one sister survives, Margaret(Carl) Tusen, of Albert Lea; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Arnold (Susan) Gulbertson, Alzada (Kent Flatness) Gulbertson, Cherri (Steve) Nelson, Francis Gulbertson and Brenda (Jose) Avelar; nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vicky Boerner; brother, Duane (Cathy) Boerner; nephews: Todd and Ricky Boerner; son-in-law, Rudy Sanchez Jr.; and mother-in-law, Opal Gulbertson.
