Hormel named one of nation’s best corporate citizens

Hormel Foods Corp. was named one of the nation’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens in Corporate Responsibility magazine.
Hormel ranked 40th on the list.
Companies are ranked based on more than 360 data points in seven categories: environment, climate change, human rights, employee relations, governance, philanthropy and financial performance.
“For the past several years, we have concentrated on communicating our responsibility efforts, identifying areas for improvement and implementing new initiatives,” Hormel CEO and president Jeffrey Ettinger said in a press release. “We are pleased to see our efforts recognized by this prestigious ranking.”
Six other Minnesota companies made the list, which was released on the magazine’s Web site Tuesday. The highest ranked Minnesota company was General Mills, which was No. 3. Other Minnesota companies included: Xcel Energy at No. 30, 3M Co. at No. 32, Mosaic Co. at No. 45, Accenture Ltd. No. 75, and Medtronic Inc. at No. 77.
Corporate Responsibility’s next issue is will be mailed out March 9. The issue focuses on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens “List Effect.”
The list is scheduled to print in the Corporate Responsibility The 100 Best Corporate Citizens list was first printed in Business Ethics magazine in 1999, and has been managed by Corporate Responsibility since 2007.
