AHS has four swimmers on All Big-Nine

ALBERT LEA – Individually, the Austin High School swim team earned distinction at Saturday’s Big Nine Conference meet, including four swimmers who were selected all-conference.

ALBERT LEA – Individually, the Austin High School swim team earned distinction at Saturday’s Big Nine Conference meet, including four swimmers who were selected all-conference.
Sophomore Beau Webber has been doing what he has done all season long – finish on top. Webber captured the one-meter diving competition with a 372.50 score. Teammates Ryan O’Leary was seventh and Steve Knutson was 12th.
The Packers got a solid 1-2 punch in the 100-yard butterfly with Thomas Bjorlie taking second with a time of :58.44 and junior Joe Bauer coming in third in a time of 1:01.70. Erik Sherman finished 13th
Ethan Simonson was ninth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :24.76. Levi Van Pelt was 22nd and Andy Gulbrandson 33rd.
Joe Bauer was 10th in the 200-yard free and Carl Bauer was 17th.
Bjorlie was 10th in the 100-yard back in 1:03.21. Tony McDermott was 17th, Chase Kusterer 20th and Erik Sherman 21.
Simonson also brought home a 10th – in the 100-yard free – in a time of :54.73. Tony McDermott was 16th and Van Pelt 18th.
Carl Bauer was 14th in the 500-yard free in 5:39.98. Phil Heins was 22nd and Phil Jordan 26th. Ben Petersen was 20th in the 100 breast along with Chris Budahn in 25, Andy Hull in 33rd and Gulbrandson in 36th.
Budahn was 24th in the 200-yard individual medley and Ben Petersen was 25th.
Making the all-conference team were Joe Bauer, Thomas Bjorlie, Ethan Simonson and Beau Webber. Austin placed eighth out of 10 teams.
